Spring is finally here! Or is it? It is still pretty cold in New Jersey and I am really looking forward to some warm weather and sunshine. With spring ‘officially’ upon us, I was thinking that it was the perfect time for a blog makeover. I have been envisioning a more clean and professional design, and I am happy to say that I am very pleased with the outcome. What do you think about the new layout? I also thought that now would be a good time for me to take this opportunity to allow my readers to get to know a little more about the girl behind the blog.
- If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
For those of you who know me well, you already know that I lived in The Netherlands for nine months during my early twenties. I had the time of my life there, especially because of the slow paced-laid back atmosphere. If I could transport all of my friends and family to Europe, I would in a heartbeat. I think the South of France sounds appealing. Shall we?
- What are your hobbies?
I love taking pictures and am passionate about photography. I am trying to get better everyday and with every picture that I take. I enjoy baking, especially making cookies. I am a very creative person, so anything that allows me to be artistic. I also love to travel and discover new places. I am always planning my next trip or getaway.
- What would you change about yourself if you could?
Sometimes I wish I could live more ‘in the moment’, instead of always thinking ahead. I actually have a tattoo on my back that says, “Ici et maintenant” which means “here and now” in French. When I lived in Europe I saw how everyone truly enjoyed the moment. I wanted to bring that mentality back with me, because I feel like a lot of the time I am stuck in this “go, go” mentality instead of taking a second to just stop and smell the roses.
- What is your favorite thing about your career?
I love helping people. I am a Registered Nurse and absolutely love what I do. I love being a position where I am able to care for people everyday. I know that I was called to make a difference in the lives of my patients and am thankful that I have the opportunity to do so in my professional career.
- What makes you laugh the most?
Here is something interesting about me… I do not have a sense of humor. I always joke and say that “I was wasn’t born with one.” I don’t find many things to be funny. I wish I could watch a comedy and laugh until my stomach hurt, but I can’t. There are very few instances when I actually ‘crack up’, but it has happened. And when it does, I embrace the moment.
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I am loving being a mom, just as much as my husband is loving being a dad. We hope to grow our family by one or two more! Whatever God has chosen to bless us with. I also see ourselves purchasing our first home. We are saving (it feels like its taking foreverrrr) but we cannot wait to finally own something and make it our own.
- How would others describe you?
Others would describe me as a kind and friendly person, someone who is driven and hard working and is always willing to help out where ever she is needed or called to.
- Do you have any tattoos?
Yes, I have two tattoos. One on my back, running down my left side near my ribs. In script are the words, “ici et maintenant”, which means ‘here and now’ in French. I also have a dove tattooed on my lower right hip area. It symbolizes my faith in the Holy Spirit and love for Jesus Christ.
- Is your glass half full or half empty?
My glass is half full! I always try to focus on the positives in any given situation. I am certainly an optimist and try to happy in any given situation.
- Do you like or dislike surprises?
I am in between. There is always something nice about the element of surprise, however I constantly feel like I need to be in control and know what I am doing or what is going on. My husband loves to surprise me and it always drives me crazy, however in the end- I am always happy that he did.
