Our first Christmas as a married couple was interesting, to say the least. I will only go into detail on the good parts. Christmas morning was fun! I woke up to the smell of food cooking in the kitchen. TJ got up early and suprised me with a Christmas breakfast. He made chocolate chip pancakes (my favorite)ย and bacon. He even brewed me a pot of coffee– was his first time, since he isn’t a coffee drinker… It was so sweet of him to think of me! When I came downstairs we ate together and then made our way to the living room, where all of our wonderful Christmas gifts were nestled under the tree.
This year we agreed to not go ‘over the edge’ on gifts for eachother. So we splurged on everyone else ๐ We set a $100 budget each. We had fun opening up our gifts one by one. I gave TJ a nice white robe with ‘T’ on it, since he loved wearing a robe so much on our honeymoon! I also got him two winter sweaters, a ‘puffer vest’- as I call it, warm gloves, a cell phone holder for his car, and I think thats it…. ๐ TJ got me 2 pretty starbucks mugs that I had requested, red slipper boots for around the house and a beautiful black hooded jacket with fur that I had been eyeing up.
After opening our gifts we headed out to my grandma’s house. This is when it all went downhill. Not something I particularly want to blog about, more so because it deals with family drama… so I will stop here. It was definately a Christmas to remember!

So, even though Christmas wasn’t the best we have ever had, we got a second chance that following Sunday at (TJ’s) Nan’s house. We celebrated Christmas together as a family and it was a great day. Nan cooked up a storm, as usual, and there were so many great food options to choose from. Shortly after we arrived we exchanged Christmas gifts. I think everyone did a really good job at getting great gifts for one another! Nan got TJ and I two kitchen aid attachments, a meat grinder and a part that chops up foods. She also made us an afghan for the bottom of our bed! We love it so much and it matches our room colors PERFECTLY! Heather and Jesse got us our ‘First Christmas’ ornament, which couldn’t have been more perfect! They also gave us a gift card for groupon (they know us well!) The day was a lot of fun and made us feel happy and relieved that we got to celebrate Christmas (again), the right way! Here are some pictures of the day! Happy Holidays ๐
