Bumpdate: 38 weeks {& Nursery Tour}

So today actually marks 38 weeks of pregnancy! Baby is “officially” due in 2 weeks, however the Doctor thinks he will be here any day now! We have a check up appointment today at 2pm and I am really excited. Last Tuesday the doctor told me that I was already 2-3cm dilated and 70% effaced, so I am hoping for some more good news today. I have been feeling cramping and mild pain over the last day or two, so I have a feeling his arrival is right around the corner (hoping mommy’s judgement is right!)

This past Tuesday, TJ and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary! October is our special month. He proposed to me in October, we got married in October, my birthday is in October and seems like baby’s will be too! I LOVE the fall, its my favorite time of year! We ended up going out to dinner at a restaurant called Pure in Parsipanny. We joked around that the last few weeks have been the first time we have had a ‘social life’ in a while- since we made sure to get in any last minute movie trips and other things we wanted to do before baby arrives.

Dad prepared some freezer meals for us, so that we don’t have to rush around cooking the first week baby is here. I finished my last day of work yesterday and I am officially on maternity leave. The house is clean, the pack and play is ready, the nursery is tidy and we are SET-TO-GO!

We can’t wait to meet you precious little one. Your little kicks are becoming big ones and you are running out of room in there! It is OK to come out now!  See you soon 😉 Love, MOM

Fall Decor

It’s officially fall in the Speer home! Is that bad? I know most people are still hanging on to every last ounce of summer, but not me! I am in LOVE with the fall. It is my favorite time of the year and decorating for this season is one of my favorite things to do! If you know me well, you will know my two favorite things to decorate are my apothecary jars and my candle tray. Whatever the season, I take this task very seriously. They need to look great!

Thanks to an impromptu shopping trip with Christina today, I was able to snag these great fall finds for only $20! Another essential to all fall decor is the fall wreath. The wreath you see at the bottom of this post, is a wreath I made last week. This coming Friday on Society Letters, you will be able to find out how to make one yourself! Make sure to check it out!

Enjoy a sneak peak of our home decor this fall! More pics to come when the mums and pumpkins arrive 😉

Memorial Day Decor

For those of you who know me, my apothecary jars are my absolute favorite thing to decorate in my house. With each change of season and holiday my jars get a makeover.  Sometimes my jars will have decorations in them and other times I will fill them with candy. I bought these particular jars two years ago at Michael’s Craft Stores. I used coupons when purchasing them and spent somewhere around $35 on all three. For me, they were a great investment!

I wasn’t sure what theme to make the jars this month. I knew I couldn’t go wrong with a ‘summer beach’ theme but I knew that wouldn’t match well with the surrounding decor in my home.

The key to this habit it of mine is not to spend a fortune each month. Eventually I will have a full inventory of decor that I will reuse from year to year. I am almost there! Believe me, my husband will tell you that I have enough  already. 😉

I headed over to our local dollar store, Dollar Tree, and went right over to their Memorial Day decorations. As I have mentioned before we are living on a budget, so I don’t need to go broke on this little monthly project of mine! I end up spending $8 on all items. As you can see in the image below, I got 3 Mesh ribbons (Red-White-Blue), 2 garland strands with stars, as well as 3 super cute red, white and blue starred candle holders. The cool thing is that after filling up my jars I still had a lot of the ribbon left over, which I used to fill some other jars in my house. I even considered making a wreath with the remaining ribbon, but I’ll leave that project for another day….maybe July 4th 🙂

Here is how the jars turned out…

What do you think?!

Happy Memorial Day!

Thank you to all who have served [and continue to serve] our country. You are true heroes!
