I figured since Baby Speer has grown quite a lot in last few weeks/months, that I would share some bump-dates with you all. We found out that we were expecting on February 25th. For the first few weeks afterwards, I was feeling pretty good! I actually thought that I might be one of the lucky ones who don’t end up getting morning sickness. HA, I was wrong. At about theย sixth week, the nausea came. Luckily for me, the nausea was minimal and wasn’t every morning. I found myself the most sick on the days I had to get up at 4:30am to go to work at the clinic. On those days, I kept a barf bag close by (literally).
The main symptom I have experienced since I found out I was pregnant is fatigue. Man, am I TIRED! My poor husband. I come home from work say hi and pass out on the couch. Who would have thought making a baby would be so tiring ๐ However, overall… I can’t really complain. Some days I get mild abdominal cramping, similar to period cramps- but otherwise I have to say it has been smooth sailing.ย
We had our first ultrasound on March 24th, around one month after our + pregnancy test. Unfortunately, TJ was not able to make it, because he was on a flight out to Florida! I tried to move the appointment around, but the schedule was already filled. Luckily my OB is awesome and let me take a video of the ultrasound to send to him.
It was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. Hearing our baby’s heartbeat for the first time was incredible. So fast and rhythmic at 177 beats per minute. I was expecting at this point, being only 9 weeks pregnant, to see a little pea-pod on the ultrasound, but to my surprise you could already see the baby’s hands and feet forming! It was incredible. It was such a clear image of the baby and was beautiful to see. I am not an emotional person and I shed a tear or two. At certain points the baby was even moving around! I couldn’t believe how human-like the baby appeared at this early stage. The best part was when my Doctor told me our due date. She said, “1 baby, 9 weeks, October 27.” I laughed, “That is my birthday!” What an amazing birthday I am going to have this year! I might even be sharing it with our first baby!
Until the next bump-date
