It seems like only yesterday when fall started, and now it is already time to welcome the cold weather as November approaches. Fall is the season that makes us want to go outside and breathe in the fresh fall air, while winter season has us wanting to stay inside and be cozy and warm, snuggled in our beds. In fall, we tend to gravitate more towards warmer colors, while in winter we tend to stick with the darker and deeper colors. And as the seasons change, our moods also change. A great way to welcome the new season is to make your home décor say it for you. Have a look at some of these décor tips that we have compiled for you to help give your home that winter feeling it deserves.
- Let The Sunlight In
Colder temperatures mean shorter days. Try and keep your windows open to maximize light exposure. No point in keeping it dark and dreary inside. During the day, the sunlight will help raise the temperature in your house, and as we all know, nothing feels better than sitting in the sunshine with your favorite book and a cup of tea. If your house is situated in a place surrounded by nature or attractive views, open windows will provide the full opportunity to enjoy the outside while staying comfortable in your pajamas.
- Lots Of Texture
Cold weather means time to cozy up under the blankets and snuggle on the couch with tons of comfy plush pillows and throws. Pick pillows and throws that are soft, thick and textured. Pick a color scheme and get your shopping cart filled with tons of beautiful textured accent pillows. Choose different shapes and sizes and lay them out on your couch in odd numbers, they will really make your room come to life this winter.
- Darker Colors
As these cozy months are practically upon us, try switching over your bright and light colors to more deep, saturated colors. The dark color will feel a bit cozier and provide a more elegant feel, especially around the holiday season. A dark color will also give your room a calming feeling and it will look especially nice during those wintery, snowy white nights.
- Scented Candles
Candles will give your home that true ‘homey feeling’ that it needs this time of year. First, they light up a room, naturally. Nights are longer in winter- so keep your surroundings illuminated by putting some beautiful candles in your house. There are so many amazing wintery candle scents to choose from. I personally love wintergreen or anything that reminds me of fresh pine at Christmas time. By picking your favorites scent, you will experience the nostalgia of the holiday season. You can choose the scents of your liking and place them around your house, especially by your mantle or fireplace to give a beautiful and elegent wintery feel to your home.
- Baskets
The simplest way to get your house in that mood is by adding baskets around the house. You can put soft, warm-beige blankets in your baskets, store fresh pine cones, or even display some empty present boxes, to get everyone in the mood for the season of gift giving. You can display baskets in the house all year round and just change up your theme to make it appropriate for the time of year. Baskets are such a simple and easy decorating idea, that you can find for cheaper and almost anywhere.
- Artwork
Because what house is complete without some beautiful artwork on the walls? You can get all the winter vibes by putting up artwork and/or frames that exhibit the feelings surrounding the winter season. If you love quotes, get such quotes printed that talk about the winter. If you love nature, get some fantastic paintings of snowy landscapes. I also love the look of old wooden white frames just lined up, overlapping each other, on the mantle- so pretty and simple. The options really are endless.
