Hi everyone! I have gotten a lot of great feedback lately about our new home and décor, so I am happy to put together a post for you all to see our progress + some pictures!
It’s been a little over a month since we moved into our first home and we couldn’t be more happy. We are absolutely loving being homeowners and all that comes with it (so far at least!). We moved into a lake community in Sparta, NJ called Lake Mohawk, and it has a great small town vibe to it. I have already witnessed just how much people love their town, which makes me happy to be included too. One of the attractions to buying a home in Sparta was knowing that Landon would grow up spending summers on the lake and getting involved in lots of lake activities. There at 10 beaches that we now have access to, including one a street directly behind our house.
Ok, let’s get to what you really want to know… what the house looked like before and how it’s changed, after. Thankfully my husband TJ is super handy and was able to do a lot of things himself, saving us a ton of money. We love farmhouse décor, so we are really trying to incorporate this theme into our home as much as possible.
Dining room / kitchen:
In the ‘informal’ dining room, which is open + facing our kitchen, we decided to go with a “Dutch-inspired” theme. My grandparents were born in Holland and I love The Netherlands so much, that I wanted to incorporate this into our home. I chose to stick with accent colors of blue and white, to represent true dutch colors.
In this room TJ installed ship lap on the walls. I love how they turned out. He also added three wooden beams to the ceiling to give it more of a Dutch farmhouse feel.

Family room:
In this room we threw some paint up on the walls and added a personal touch with installing wainscoting on the bottom half of the walls. Wow, what a difference this makes for the room! (Side note: isn’t my husband talented?!) I just love this room so much. It is so comfy and cozy and really gives off that “homey” feeling. We accented the room with some dark wood to compliment the wooden beams in the kitchen and incorporated light wood to compliment the beautiful hard wood floors throughout the house. I love how much nature light is in this room, between the sliding back door to the deck and the sky lights, this room is well lit and bright.

What do you think of our transformation?
I have had a few people ask me the sources for the furniture as well as décor / paint that we have used for each room. I am happy to share these with you all as well. I will do a post in the near future on this + more!
