Hello everyone! I am SO excited to be sharing this post with you all today. Baby girl’s nursery is finally complete and we are in LOVE!
So let’s get right into to the design… The entire room itself we covered in shiplap because as you know, I am obsessed. I feel like it brings such a bright and light look to the room- perfect for any farmhouse nursery. We painted the shiplap in color ‘white dove’ by Benjamin Moore, which is the same color that we have in the rest of our house. I want every room that we design to have a personal farmhouse touch & I think we achieved just that in this room.
In my opinion, to achieve a true farmhouse feel, you need to incorporate a lot of white & neutral colors into your room. White, white, and more white. I chose a big white comfy chair for the room in particular so when I am up late nursing her, I will be most comfortable. I chose this arm chair purposely because it matches our furniture downstairs in the living room- completing the set. So, if we wanted to move it later, when Sierra is older, we have that option. I also found some cute and comfy pillows at a local boutique in our town, which I think look adorable on her chair.
Funny story: As most of you already know, we originally thought that we were having a boy. So of course, the room was very neutral-toned with only a pop of color in ‘his’ blue dresser. When the (amazing) surprise came that we were actually having a baby girl, we knew we would have to make some tweaks to the nursery to make it more feminine. Instead of re-painting the dresser another color, we decided to leave it as it was because it brings back some fun memories and laughs of the time we thought we had a boy on the way. I did however, add some stencil designs to the dresser with a touch of yellow and pink paint, which made it known this room was clearly meant for a baby girl. I also added some lavender around her room, which brought in a pop of color and complimented the farmhouse theme well.
When designing this room we were lucky to receive a brand new rug from Lorena Canals Rugs. I feel like a rug really pulls a room together and I knew we found the perfect one when I came across this beautiful beige and black rug from Lorena Canals. Its black diamond pattern with the fringed edges, brought a unique rustic touch to the room. It is a handmade rug that uses organic cotton and non-toxic dyes, making it super kid-friendly, perfect for any nursery. You can find the link to our exact rug here.
Another element in the room that is a favorite of mine are the custom fitted crib sheets that were gifted to us from my cousin. I love the floral pattern and bright and beautiful design they bring. I am also loving how our curtains turned out. We purchased them from ikea and I followed a Pinterest ‘ikea hack’ where you fold over the bottom of the curtains to make them look fuller on the top- by clipping them to hooks and hanging them off a shower curtain rod. They were inexpensive and look great. I love all the natural light they let into the room.
Overall, I had so much fun creating and designing this space for baby Sierra. A special shout out to my husband for being able to apply the vision that I had and make it all come to life. We are so excited for the arrival of our baby daughter and we hope that she will love and cherish this room and much as we do!
Would love to hear your thoughts and comments on the nursery in the comment section down below this post! I am also happy to answer any other design questions that you may have about the nursery!
