Happy Holidays friends. Today I am excited to be revealing to you our newly re-done kid’s playroom. With baby S almost here, we wanted to make this room a little more ‘adult-friendly’ and comfortable for when baby arrives. I wanted a space that I could bring her to nurse, while still being able to play and entertain Landon.
Our inspiration for the room was of course farmhouse-themed. I envisioned a space that the kids could call ‘their own’, while still incorporating that farmhouse feel we have throughout the rest of our house. I am really happy with the turnout- I think we achieved just that.
One of my favorite parts about this space was how the mini farmhouse wall turned out. I saw a similar idea on Instagram and asked my husband to re-create the look. TJ did a great job creating exactly what I had in mind, using shiplap boards and of course some good ole paint and hinges. He sure is talented, am I right?!
For the back wall, we purchased cubbies from Ikea- which couldn’t have fit more perfectly into this space. It was almost as if they were meant to be there. The dimensions lined up so perfectly and compliment the room great. We hid all of Landon’s toys in the pull out drawers and stored all his books, as you can see, in the top cubbies. I love that we have the option to keep the room looking clean and tidy, when we want too. The blinds and curtains we used also were purchased from Ikea.
Another element that brought the room together so nicely was our fun and colorful Lorena Canals Rug. I love everything about their rugs (we have one in baby girl’s nursery) and I knew we needed to have one for this room too! All of Lorena Canals rugs are handmade & handcrafted from artisans overseas. Their rugs are washable- making them toddler friendly (SCORE) and are made from 100% cotton- making them SO soft on your bare feet! The rug we received for the playroom from Lorena Canals was the Happy Hills Rug. I love how playful and fun the pastel colors look in the room. My husband said it reminds him of those sand creations we used to make as kids and I couldn’t agree with him more. I would recommend one of these rugs to anyone I know! They are great quality and made to last.
Lastly, we created a space where Landon (and baby S) could go to get creative, aka our ‘creativity wall.’ TJ made a beautiful wooden table where the kids can sit to work on games, puzzles or crafts. We bought a chalk board and a cork board to be able to display their artwork and keep things fun, while being able to write special notes/messages to each other from time to time. We hope to see both kids utilize this space together and look forward to watching them get creative and use their imaginations.
What do you think of our new playroom? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
