Since baby #2 is on the way, I thought it would be helpful to do this post, not only for your knowledge, but for mine as well! I surveyed a bunch of experienced mommas (of two or more children) and came up with these top 5 “must-have” items. With a second child on the way, you will most likely need to purchase some new items- but also a lot of duplicate items (for example; a second crib, a dual baby camera monitor, a double-stoller) to name a few.
5 items that moms recommended were life savers with a second child on the way:
1. DockATot
The DockATot is a lightweight comfortable area where babies can rest, play and lounge. It was designed to offer babies a snug and soothing environment. DockATot is the ideal spot to have tummy time with your little one. The rounded sides help to prop up baby when placed under his/her arms. It is beautiful design and there are a variety of color options to choose from. We went with white for ours! They even offer a Grand version, which is for babies age 9 โ 36 months.
2. Baby K’tan
The Baby K’tan is a great option for a baby carrier because there is no wrapping, buckling, or ring-adjusting. It’s as easy as slipping on your baby carrier, just like you would a t-shirt. Easy for you AND dad. The Baby Kโtan is sized like clothing for the perfect fit, and can be worn in multiple ergonomic positions from birth up to 35 lbs, providing the perfect snug swaddle for your baby. Each sling for baby also includes a matching sash which provides added security for baby and support for mom or dad. The sash also converts to a bag to store your carrier when not it use! I have not personally tried this carrier, but I am looking into it for baby C.
3. Binxy Baby
This super comfortable (and not to mention, adorable) shopping cart hammock lets baby cruise around the store in style. It was created to make shopping with a baby safe and easy. This hammock clips quickly and easily to most carts and hangs elevated so that there is plenty of room left for your groceries. The best part is how compact and convenient the Binxy Baby is to pack up. It rolls up so easily and you can put it right into your diaper bag when finished. There is also a safety strap for added protection for your little one. It can be used until baby reaches 50lbs or can sit up on their own. Cute idea right?
4. Travel Backpack
This multi-functional backpack is convenient for on-the-go travel, especially with 2 kiddos. It is very spacious, with 15 pockets- perfect for storing diapers + wipes, milk bottles, snacks, etc. It is made with great quality fabric and is not only durable, but water-resistant and easy to wipe clean (my kind of bag). It is also super affordable at only $30 and comes in a variety of color options. I know a few mommas who personally have this backpack and love it!
5. Baby Play Pen
Play pens are a great way to keep baby safe and contained, while still being able to entertain a busy toddler. This playpen is portable and great for indoor or outdoor use. It is easy to set up and is perfect for traveling (it even has a carry case with a strap for on-the-go). I think a play pen is also a great idea if you have pets, especially in those early newborn months. I definitely plan to pick up one of these before baby C arrives!
Do you have any items to add to this list? Leave a comment below! I definitely plan to purchase a noise machine for baby #2, not sure if I will use it in Landon’s room (to hide the baby cries) or keep it in baby C’s room (to hid loud noises from older brother L)- wait, do I need two now?!
